Middletown City Schools is excited to announce Joe Campolongo as the district’s next Athletic Director. A dedicated and familiar face in Middletown athletics and student support, Campolongo brings a wealth of experience to his new leadership role.

Since 2020, Campolongo has served as Middletown’s Assistant Athletic Director, overseeing all 17 middle school athletic programs and assisting in the management of the 26 high school programs. During the same period, he has also served as the OHSAA Tournament Manager for both the girls’ basketball and wrestling sectional tournaments.

In addition to his work in athletics, Campolongo has made an impact at Middletown High School as a College and Career Advisor since 2018. In this role, he has guided more than 300 seniors each year through critical career, college, and military planning. He has become a trusted mentor and motivator, ensuring every student has the tools and support to pursue a successful future.

“I am humbled and honored to continue working with our students in this new role,” Campolongo said. “Through desire, dedication, and discipline, our students and student-athletes will continuously be pushed to become the best versions of themselves. I am excited to create more opportunities for the students of Middletown to learn and grow. Go Middies!”

Superintendent Deborah Houser shared her confidence in the transition: “Joe Campolongo’s passion for student success—on and off the field—makes him the right choice to lead our athletic programs. His commitment to Middie pride and student growth is unwavering, and I’m confident our athletics will thrive under his leadership.”

Campolongo will take over the role from JD Foust, who has served as Athletic Director since 2019. Foust will begin a new chapter this summer as the Athletic Director for Sidney City Schools.
