Delicious Blend of Education and Entrepreneurship: 6th Graders Create Pop-up Taco Business
Students at Highview 6th Grade Center have taken their real-world learning to the next level by launching their own pop-up taco business.
After learning about the fields of Business, Marketing, and Management, sixth graders in Ms. Kash's class are applying their knowledge to running their own business, which in this case, is "Highview Top of the Tacos."
The pop-up business not only provided a hands-on learning experience, but also instilled valuable life skills such as teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.
Students learned about the fundamentals of business operations, financial literacy, and how to work together. Students assumed the roles of hosts, servers, chefs, and other positions found in a restaurant setting.
While the tacos were free to students, staff, and community members, donations were accepted and given to Mz. Jade's Soulfood for its "Mz. Jade's Kidz" initiative which aims to pay off school lunch debt for area children.
Junior Achievement of Middletown Area and Emery Federal Credit Union helped to sponsor the real-world learning project.
