CANCELED: July 9 Graduation at Barnitz Stadium

Jul 7, 2020
face mask order

Due to Tuesday’s Ohio Department of Health face coverings order, Middletown City School District is canceling Thursday’s graduation ceremonies. This decision was made by the City of Middletown Health Commissioner, MCSD administration, the MCSD Board of Education, and the MHS staff.

“We were looking forward to safely celebrating the Class of 2020. We have so many people to thank for working round the clock to make it a special day for our seniors and we wish we could show off your hard work. That being said, the health and safety of our families and friends is more important and we want everyone to stay safe and mask up,” said Marlon Styles, Jr., MCSD Superintendent.

Middletown City Schools wishes to thank Stratford Heights Church of God, DB Sound Advice, the Middletown High School staff, and all others who planned, created, and advocated for an in-person graduation. The district looks forward to celebrating in the future.

"Covid 19 cases have increased dramatically moving Butler County into the red zone. As a result, we must change our behavior in order to protect the health of our Middie Family. We are all disappointed that we do not get to host our scheduled graduation ceremonies on Thursday, July 9, 2020. We earnestly tried to meet all requirements for health and safety but the virus has out maneuvered our efforts. We look forward to celebrating our graduates this Fall. We love our class of 2020! We stay committed to honoring you!" said Mrs. Carmela Cotter, MHS Principal.

Masks are required in counties that are designated Red Level 3 Public Health Emergency Alert. This includes Butler County. For more information, visit https://governor.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/governor/
