Middletown City School District (MCSD) Board of Education named Deborah Houser, the current Senior Director of Human Resources, as the new Assistant Superintendent. This is a new position.

Houser has worked at MCSD for the past 13 years, most recently as the Senior Director of Human Resources. As she transitions over to the Assistant Superintendent role, she will work alongside Styles as well as provide leadership, collaboration, and coordination in the areas of Human Resources and Curriculum and Innovation. Fran Morrison, the current Senior Director of Curriculum and Innovation, is retiring in June.

“I am truly excited for this opportunity and I am very honored the board has the belief in me and the willingness to support my continuing as the assistant superintendent in the district. I’ve enjoyed each and every one of the 13 years I’ve been with Middletown City Schools. I’ve been able to work with every group in our district. Building relationships with everyone--is a catalyst to me continuing our work in the vision and mission of our district.” said Houser.

Houser earned both her Bachelor and Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Northern Kentucky University, her Education Administration Certificate from Ashland University, and her Superintendent License from Miami University.

“When you find good people, you want to hold on to good people and that’s exactly what the Middletown Board of Education did for the district. The board is ensuring continuity in leadership positions as well as keeping Ms. Houser’s charisma, talent, and her ability to work with people in Middletown. There are a lot of decisions the board has to make that are difficult and keeping Ms. Houser’s talent isn’t one,” said Chris Urso, MCSD Board of Education President.
