From the desk of Mike Lolli:
Dear Parents: May 2, 2008We are into the final stretch of the school year. Most of the state testing has been completed. We will finish up next week. We only had 8 students absent in grades 3-5 during this time. Thank you for your help by making sure the students had a healthy breakfast and arrived on time. Test results will not be received until late July. You will receive information in the mail.
The final PTO meeting of the year will be on Thursday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. A slate of officers for the 2008-2009 school year will be presented. At this time we only have one person per office, so a voice vote will be taken at the meeting.
Thank you to Mr. Fultz for organizing the recent Jump Rope for your Heart. A total of $2900 was raised for a very worthy cause and the students participated in a healthy exercise!
During the month of May we will be conducting another student wellness program, Move Across Ohio. Each student will take the first ten minutes in their physical education class to walk or jog as many laps as possible. The goal will be to reach 266 miles, the distance from Conneaut, Ohio to South Point, Ohio.
The next two weeks will have some great fun activities for everyone thanks to the fall fundraiser. On Tuesday, May 6, the top sellers from each homeroom will get to slime me. Some students earned a limousine ride for their efforts. They will ride to McDonald's on Friday, May 9. The PTO will pay for their breakfast/lunch. Then on Tuesday, May 12 all students get to participate in a carnival in the gym!
There will be a one day Book Fair on Wednesday, May 14. Mrs. Hiler will be sending information home with students next week.
Congratulations to Carole Fallang and the late Chris Minnix. Both teachers will be recognized at the district PTO Scholarship Banquet on May 13 for their outstanding work with students. Former Rosedale students Jayson Cavender and Jenna Smith wrote winning essays about how these teachers made a positive impact on their lives.
Next week is Staff Appreciation Week. I am very proud of our staff: custodians, nurse, aides, psychologist, secretary, cafeteria workers, librarian and teachers. All of them work hard to provide a safe, warm and caring learning environment for your children. Please join me in saying thanks for all they do!
Sincerely,
Michael Lolli
