February 3, 2012Dear Parents: Many of you know that I will be retiring at the end of this school after 32 years in the field of education. The school district is in the process of finding a new principal. Part of the procedure is to get input from you. Mr. Greg Rasmussen, our superintendent, has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, February 14 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in our library to discuss your thoughts about a new leader for our building. I hope that you will come to share your ideas. Author Eric Litwin, and illustrator James Dean of Pete the Cat will be at the Warren County Career Center on February 23 at 6:30 p.m. This is free and open to the public. Children of all ages will enjoy singing, dancing and interacting with Litwin and Dean as Litwin plays guitar and harmonica and leads the singing while Dean draws a special portrait of Pete the Cat. For more information go to www.wccc.org. This past summer one of our fifth grade students, Rachel Heidtman, earned a spot on the national television show, The Dog Whisperer. Her episode will air on Saturday, February 25 at 8:00 p.m. on the National Geographic Wild station. I look forward to watching it!! The Early Release Days for this month are February 8 & 22. Please remember that if we have a two hour delay on either of these dates due to poor weather conditions, we will not dismiss early. The PTO meeting will be on Thursday, February 9. Plans are already being made for next school year. If you are interested in one of the PTO offices, please come to the meeting for more information. Mid-term reports go home on Friday, February 10. Parent-teacher conferences will be held the following week, February 13 & February 16. The Book Fair will be held during the week of February 13. You will have the opportunity to shop during the evening conferences. This is all possible by the efforts of our PTO! Class pictures will be taken on Thursday, February 16. Payment of $12 must be sent in that day. Students are to wear the uniforms that day. Individual Spring Pictures will be taken on Friday, February 17. Order forms have been sent home. Students do not have to wear their uniform this day. A Parent Survey was sent home from the district Parent Resource Center. Please take a few minutes to respond and return it as soon as possible. The next YMCA Family Fun Night is Friday, February 17. Students do not have school on Monday, February 20 due to the President's Day Holiday. Sincerely, Michael Lolli
