Mission

We strive for an engaging learning environment in which students complete meaningful work that leads to high achievement.

We recognize the importance of each person's abilities, learning styles and skills as we help to inspire life long learners and citizens who appreciate diversity and contribute to the community in positive ways.

We work in collaboration with students, parents and the community for the purposes of encouraging, inspiring and modeling respect and responsibility.

Profile
The George M. Verity School was named for the founder of Armco Steel. Verity serves 6th, 7th and 8th graders from Amanda, Creekview and Mayfield elementary schools. The Vikings show strength and courage everyday by learning everything we need to know to go to college.

Vision
Guided by our core values of learning, respect, support and responsibility, Verity will become a school that inspires pride among students, staff and the greater community. Learning will be the primary focus of all school endeavors, as a measured product and a process inspired as a life long pursuit. Respect will be evident throughout the school in all relationships. The Verity environment will be one of mutual support among staff members and one that inspires support from families and the community. All members of Verity will accept responsibility for their roles, behaviors, successes and the excellence of the school.

Commitments
Our school community will identify essential outcomes and provide a variety of engaging opportunities for growth and understanding to encourage life long learners.

Our school community will monitor each student's progress toward learning objectives through ongoing, individual assessment.

We will model and expect responsibility within our school community.

We will support our school community by improving communication and understanding to achieve common goals.

Respect will be modeled, expected and enforced by all members of the school community.

Focus
Verity takes pride in offering students a well-rounded, individualized educational program that emphasizes positive reinforcement for all students.

The "Students Who Act Terrifically", our Intervention Assistance Teams, and Family Resource Center are examples of student-centered programs which are targeted at helping students with their individual needs.

Partnerships with Youth
During the coming school year, Verity will continue partnerships with our business partners: Tomson Steel and the 112th Guard. These partnerships allow both parties to take advantage of each other's knowledge and strengths to benefit the students and the community.
