4th Grade Reading
Taught by Ms. Varner
Class Description
Ms. Varner teaches reading to all three fourth grade classes. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Flesher as a tutor to work with us on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays. During Reading we also have Centers which allows students to practice some of the skills we are learning. Centers also allows Ms. Varner to work in small group or one on one with students.

Current Events
We have just finished our first story for theme 3: Problem Solvers. In each of our stories the main characters have some problem he or she is trying to solve. The essential indicatorsfor Theme 4 are some that we have already been working on:
-Using context clues to determine the meaning of words
- Identifying the main incidents of a plot sequence - identifying the major conflict and its resolution
- Determining the theme
- Answering literal, inferential, and evaluative questionsWe will be having our behavior celebration this Thursday. I am pleased to say that once again every student will get to attend. Report cards will go home this week before spring break. I hope your family enjoys your vacation.
