Middletown High School Names Jordan Lawson New Varsity Boys Golf Coach

Middletown City School District has announced Jordan Lawson as the new head varsity boys golf coach at Middletown High School, pending board approval. Lawson boasts many years of coaching and professional experience in golf, currently as the General Manager and Golf Pro at Wildwood Golf Course in Middletown.

“To have a chance to get a highly qualified golf professional like Jordan was a no brainer for our [Middletown] high school program. He not only has 11 years of combined high school and collegiate coaching experience, being the General Manager at Golf Pro at Wildwood opens up new doors for our program with access to training and facilities. Jordan's passion and enthusiasm for the game will help develop a resurgence of golf into our community, especially at the youth level,” said Aaron Zupka, Athletic Director at Middletown High School.

Lawson, a graduate of Edgewood High School, holds a Bachelors of Science in Management from the University of Phoenix School of Business. He also holds his PGA Classification B-4 license, which he earned in 2012. Before taking the job at Wildwood, Jordan was the Director of Golf at Weatherwax Golf Course from 1997 to 2014.  Currently, he is  a part of the 741 Junior Golf Academy that teaches youth golf skills and etiquette. As the General Manager and Golf Pro at Wildwood, Lawson has put an emphasis on developing their membership base, including getting younger members and youth playing and getting lessons at his course. No stranger to Middletown High School, Lawson coached for the Middies as the JV Head Coach in 2011-2012 school year.

“I am very excited to be back coaching at Middletown High School,” said Lawson. “I look forward to bringing back the great tradition of excellence to the Middies Golf program and and getting to work with our student-athletes.”
