Students attend Discover STEM Conference
MMS students attended the Discover STEM conference sponsored by Butler Co ESC and hosted at MUM. Middletown Middle school 8th grade robotics students were invited to write a paragraph about why they might pursue a career in the STEM field. Twenty of these students were chosen to attend the conference. It was really successful. In addition to the opportunity for the students to attend exciting, hands on workshops, they enjoyed visiting a college campus and the experience of learning from different STEM professionals. The students took an assessment prior to the conference exploring their personal areas of interest and were assigned to specific STEM paths for that day.
Automation and Robotics at MMS
Every other Friday students in Mr. Chandler’ Automation and Robotics class have had the opportunity to participate in a robot battle called Battle Bots. Each week there are new elements to the battle in order to introduce features and upcoming topics. Recently students are using Clawbots. This was their first exposure to that type of robotic feature. This is an introduction to their final project of this semester course where students build and code and then compete with their robots.     Lee Chandler, Automation and Robotics Teacher, Middletown Middle School/ Butler Tech
