About Miss
Wheeler
I graduated from Miami University
in the spring of 1979 and began my teaching career in Middletown that
fall. I have attended workshops, local
and national conferences and completed classes at Wright State and
Xavier. I earned my Master's Degree from Marygrove College in Michigan.
Beginning in the fall of 1979, I
taught for two years in the old Amanda Elementary before
moving into the present Amanda Elementary School. During my career at
Amanda
I have worked with seven principals and taught learning disabled and
developmentally
handicapped students in grades 1-6. For the past five years I worked
with
6th grades students in the resource room and all 6th grade students in
the
inclusion classroom setting. The 6th grade students are no longer
attending
Amanda. This year I am enjoying teaching 3rd and 4th grade special
needs
students in the resource room while providing support in the 3rd and
4th
grade inclusion classes.
I love computers, crafts, reading, jigsaw puzzles, outdoor activities,
and animals (especially cats and horses). I spend time with my mother
and
relatives in Urbana as often as possible. My mother, aunts, and I enjoy
trips to Gatlinburg. My
friends
and I enjoy dinner out, movies, shopping, vacationing, and spending
hours
just chatting.
Anyone who knows me most likely
knows
I am an avid Barry Manilow fan. I have enjoyed recent trips to Las
Vegas
just to see his show (multiple
times)!!
