We are pleased to provide this information in an effort to familiarize you with the philosophy and programs of our district. As you will see, we are committed to continuous improvement which results in quality educational programs that meet the diverse needs of all students. Much work remains, but improvement in key areas is happening.Very specific plans have been implemented to help Middletown City Schools become the first urban district in Ohio rated "excellent" on the state report card. We all want progress more quickly, but staying the course with the changes made over the last three years holds the best promise for moving our students to much higher levels of achievement.
We are focusing on the Ohio learning standards and breaking them down or deconstructing them into specific learning targets for our students. We want them to know how to take a test ? but our emphasis is on learning results supported by effective teaching. It will not matter if we think effective teaching occurred, if the desired learning results were not attained.
Be assured there are plans and expectations for continuing to improve learning results in the Middletown City Schools.
The Board of Education is committed to building better schools and has communicated clear expectations to that end. Together we will become the first urban district in Ohio rated "excellent" on the state report card.
