Welcome back to another fun and exciting school year. Teachers have been getting ready for the upcoming school year by participating in several professional development opportunities to help improve student achievement.
The new Common Core curriculum and the 3rd Grade Guarantee has placed a tremendous emphasis on Literacy. As a district, we have focused our attention on more time and instruction towards Literacy. In grades K-3 it is our goal to schedule a 3-hour block of time to help teachers meet the specific and unique needs of every child in their classroom. It will be even more crucial that students are present daily and on time to school.
With the demands and expectations rising from year to year, it is vital that teachers have the time to teach. Anything that interrupts our teachers from teaching, will ultimately impact student achievement. We are asking that ALL parents join in the partnership of MIDDIE Pride! Our MIDDIE Pride program is an incentive based program that focuses on positive student behavior. We need your help to ensure that students come to school ready to learn with the best behavior.
Bus behavior has been a major concern for all elementary buildings in Middletown. This is the official start for students to their school day. Lingering and bad experiences on the bus tend to spill over into the schools. We cannot afford to have students sidetracked with what happens on the bus and distracted from the learning that takes place in the classroom. Please be on the lookout for the school bus policy, as it will be enforced during the 1st week of school (see bottom).
