The Parent Mentor Program is funded through a renewable yearly grant from the Ohio Department of Education. I am one of 71 Parent Mentors who work in individual school districts throughout the state. In my role as Parent Mentor for Middletown City Schools, I serve as a support person for families who have children with disabilities. I am also a parent of a child with disabilities (now a young adult!) so I understand the joys and challenges we face as parents both at home and at school. I am one of the few people in the school district that can remain with you and your child from the time he or she enters preschool until they graduate high school.
I am always available to help by attending meetings with you, sharing information about parenting and educating a child with special needs, problem solving with the school district when conflicts arise, or locating community resources when needed. This web page provides only a small number of the free resources that are available to you. A comprehensive library and other booklets and information are available in the Parent Mentor office.
