What is your professional background?
My career in education spanned over 40 years at the university and secondary education levels. I was a founding member of the Miami Middletown Mathematics Department. After teaching there for 31 years, I served in administration at Bishop Fenwick High School, retiring as Principal. I also worked extensively in the area of Mathematics Education, publishing articles, and receiving grants for providing professional development for math teachers. I presented numerous math workshops locally and nationwide. I was a T.O.R.C.H. Master Teacher under the sponsorship of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation.
What are your goals for this school board term?:
My goal for this term is to impact student achievement by implementing the Strategic Plan recently adopted by the District. The Plan has four areas designed to facilitate increased achievement; the Board’s role is to hold the Administration responsible for delivering results in all the areas. My ultimate goal is for the Middletown City School District to merit recognition as a high performing district. This will happen in incremental steps.
What is your favorite hobby?:
I suppose it is ironing. It is a good way to relax.
